Job Description:
The Software Design and Development Engineer EDI will be an important part of software engineering group. The position will be indirect support of the core Clinical Engineering Team and the Web Applications Infrastructure Team. Along with others in the EDI team, this position will be directly responsible for creating and maintain end-to-end EDI transactions for healthcare as well as finance industry products of TECNEX Systems, LLC. This position will provide expert advice on EDI mapping and specifications, to review solution designs before implementation is started, and to complete the EDI setup, configuration, and mapping. The position will have a keen sense of understanding data transaction format standard documents and implementing those in C# based code.
Skills/Expertise:
Excellent familiarity with XML, XSD, EDI and flat file (delimited parsing) data structures and data communication between more than one applications including communicating data in multiple formats with third party applications/ web services.
Understanding of how data can be communicated in secure environment utilizing 128/256 bit SSL or TLS coding standards.
Ability to manage existing code base as well as write completely new modules from ground up without any supervision or guidance
Skilled and experienced in designing Windows forms to display complex data in a user friendly interface
Skilled and able to write code for managing healthcare EDI X-12 and HL7 data formats utilizing companion and data structure guides.
Understanding of or at a minimum; familiarity with finance industry X-12 data communications standards.
Well versed with Microsoft .Net (C#) development platform and understanding of latest VS IDEs.
Proficient in object oriented programming and not just procedural programming within OOP IDE
Understanding of the strength and viability of utilizing inheritance in combination with encapsulation while containing the ability of utilizing design patterns.
Understanding of Crystal Reports and familiarity of common reports in healthcare claims and medical billing industry
Candidate with existing healthcare and medical billing knowledge will be preferred.
Should be well versed with MS SQL Server 2008 or higher with skills to retrieve data from previous versions of MS SQL Server.
Be able to understand the requirements provided by the product development team, understand workload and provide estimates to finish the tasks in order to contribute the overall project timelines
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop, implement, and support flat file extracts (EDI), and application integration solutions that meet business needs, including transactions to be exchanged between applications. Serve as the coordination point for TECNEX propriety software implementations till implementation team is trained.
Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
Tests new programs to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and that program results are accurate. Review, to the extent possible, changes in code and the environment that will affect system performance.
Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions, and any changes made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level.
Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
Should be able to do Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis.
Provides day-to-day support and maintenance of existing EDI integrations.
Implements new EDI integrations, and supports changes to existing integrations.
Identifies areas of concern and improvement opportunities in current EDI infrastructure.
Develops EDI best practices and standards.
Assists in the design and development of new transaction types through EDI.
Establishes schedules within the EDI tools to transmit, receive and process EDI documents.
