Experience Previous experience of working in an office environment would be advantageous. We are happy to consider candidates with a range of previous experience to join our diverse team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the British Mission in Pakistan, in the Private Office of the High Commissioner and Deputy High Commissioner. The main purpose of the job is to provide support the High Commissioner in his efforts to further develop cross-Mission working in Pakistan, to continue to drive forward the Change Agenda and to lead on induction and related issues towards our goal of making Pakistan the best place to work. This will require contact with all parts of the Mission. A large part of the job also involves covering for PA/HC and PA/DHC which involves extensive engagement with the Pakistani Government.
The exact mix of roles between this and other Private Office jobs will depend on the skill-set of the person recruited. There is some flexibility to play to strengths.
Responsibilities are likely to include:
Cover absences of PA/HC, and PA/DHC – including diaries, inbox management, travel arrangements and other responsibilities.
Lead on cross-Mission Induction Process, to include keeping the cross-Mission Induction pack updated and refreshed; organising HC’s induction lunches; and constantly seeking to improve the process by seeking feedback from new arrivals
Lead for Private Office, in close consultation with Press and Public Affairs section, on cross-Mission internal communications, specifically managing HC’s staff surgery, all staff meetings, drafting messages for internal circulation.
Act as Secretary to the Pakistan Management Board, managing the agenda and forward work programme, drafting and circulating papers, writing minutes and ensuring follow up actions are taken forward.
Act as Secretary to the Change Committee and associated sub-groups, ensuring that changes are implemented across the network.

The successful candidate should be able to deliver results under pressure, and work well as part of a team. They should have strong communication skills, and be IT literate (with a particular focus on Microsoft Office). They should be well organised with a flexible approach, and a sense of humour.
