supervises the administrative systems of the laboratory to ensure that reports, proposals, and information required to serve the client are properly prepared and reported.
• Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Supervise data entry, analysis and preparing laboratory test result reports
• Heavy lifting of soils and concrete, maintaining and organizing project samples and equipment, as well as updating all SOP standard operating procedures, TOP technical operating procedures and QMS quality management systems.
• Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
• Prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Manager.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Management of the Geotechnics laboratories in accordance with the overall section strategy
• Ensure fieldwork is supported with the appropriate technical staff in particular reference soil sample collection from site and the preservation of samples
• Managing laboratory inductions and ensuring all laboratory work is conducted in accordance with relevant Health & Safety Guidance/legislation, including appropriate risk assessments
• Lead the design, construction, assembly, and installation of specialist apparatus used in the mechanical testing of soil samples. This could include electro-mechanical actuators with or without PID control, servo drives, hydraulic and pneumatic pressure-control systems, as well as its associated transducers and data-logging facilities.
• To keep the laboratory work area clean and tidy, management of equipment maintenance and annual servicing & Oversees calibration and maintenance of the laboratory equipment
• To maintain and record relevant associated laboratory safety data information.
• To operate within the guidelines, procedures, and regulations in the department.
• Oversees the physical testing of concrete, aggregates, soils, and other construction materials.
Ensures compliance with the quality system for all areas of testing.
Devises and applies formulas for the interpretation and calculation of test results and makes recommendations regarding compliance.
Advises other technical personnel in the preparation of the laboratory manual for concrete, aggregates, soils, etc.
• Ensures that laboratory personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office and laboratory.
• Supervises the efficient utilization of facilities and equipment assigned to his or her area and makes requests for additional equipment and facilities as needed to meet the client’s demands
