Raja Taha Khan
After graduation from the medical school, I completed one year mandatory clinical experience in the medical school affiliated hospital. Soon after, I cleared my Fellowship entrance exam in clinical medicine and started my residency training at one of the prestige hospital of the country i.e. Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, where I completed two years of rotation in Internal medicine and its sub-specialties including Cardiology, Nephrology, Medical Oncology, Dermatology and gastroenterology. Meanwhile, I also passed MRCPUK part I &II exam during this time period. After the completion of two year training in internal medicine, I joined Gastroenterology training at the same institute where I worked for three years as a resident during which I attended clinical rounds, managed acute emergencies and performed upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopiesBoth diagnostic and therapeutic initially under supervision and then independently during the last one year of residency. During this period, I attended many GI and hepatology conferences at national and international level and had an honor to present my research work both nationally and internationally and also won the best paper award multiple times. I also proposed and formulated non-invasive bed-side scoresAGT score in predicting choledocholithiasis and HinCh score in predicting post- ERCP cholangitisnamed after the resident who collected the data “Hina” for which I received appreciation both nationally and internationally. Considering my academic performance and commanding capabilities, I was appointed as a Chief Resident for the last six months of my residency along with an additional post of Research Co-ordinator of the Department. Now, I am working as a Senior Registrar at the Department of Hepatogastroenterology, SIUT where I do clinical rounds, perform emergency endoscopic procedures, perform ERCP under direct supervision and supervise junior residents in performing endoscopies Upper & Lower GI and help them in their research work. Recently, I also aced through European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology ESEGH in May 2022. Currently, I have cleared my Theory part of FCPS part IIexit exam in gastroenterology and hoping to ace through the clinicals in November 2022.
