Tariq Mehmood
I am horticulturist working since 2006 mainly in supply chain and value chain management of horticultural products. I have done my PhD in Post-Harvest Horticulture and MBA in Marketing with special project of evaluating the knowledge gapes prevailing in horticulture supply chain in Pakistan. Moreover, I am certified assessor, inspector and auditor of different SPS compliances including ISO 9001, HACCP, ISO 22000:2018, BRC, Global GAP and Organic Production. I am also registered as master trainer with different organization including ASF Agribusiness Support Fund CABI, GIZ Pakistan and Business Edge etc. At present I am working as Regional Manager Supply Chain in Establishment of Model Farms Linked with Improved Supply Chain and Value Addition Project Funded by Department of Agriculture Government of Punjab since March 2018. The assignments demand management and technical input to the project directed toward vitalization of horticulture industry in Punjab with focus on quality production, processing and export of fresh and value added horticultural products. The tasks stipulate smooth independent operation of the regional office ensuring registration of stakeholders with project; establish field offices in other potential districts Sargodha, Chiniot, M.B. Dine, T.T. Singh, establishing model production and processing units for demonstration and implementation of advance pre and post-harvest technology. I am involved to arrange and conduct periodical general awareness trainings for horticulture food industry, linking local stakeholders and industry, managing core team of specialists for capacity building of field staff and stakeholders, carrying out selection and standardization of grant machinery and managing disbursement of grants amongst stakeholders Coordinating with all concerning departments including Agri. Extension, F&VDP, DPP and Associations for their engagement in project activities, organizing Pakistan Horti Expos twice a year, different workshops and TOTs as per project plan. Carrying out certification of different compliances including Global GAP, HACCP, ISO 22000, IFS and BRC as per project directions and target. Supporting marketing and IT teams for online data base Marketing Information System MIS. Facilitating national, international delegates, visitors, officials, importers and investors involved in export import of horticulture commodities. Sharing of progress reports and data base for project website and newsletter, budgeting and handling of region financials and running regional office independently
