I have ten years experience in stroke patients at Aziz Fatimah hospital. I have worked in ICU, CCU Wards and OPD. I have Physiotherapy experience as a home care for stroke patients. Working with a physiotherapist, I worked as: setting up equipment showing patients how to use mobility aids helping patients prepare for treatment including helping with dressing and undressing working on exercises with patients writing reports and updating patients’ records Assist the qualified physiotherapist in the assessment and rehabilitation of patients. Keep accurate records of work undertaken in accordance with CSP and Physiotherapy Service standards for clinical documentation Maintain levels of stock equipment, anticipate periods of higher use, and order stock e.g. mobility aids and aids for activities of daily living etc. To report any problems to the qualified physiotherapist. participate in changes in service delivery across the in-patient and outpatient areas in order to provide an efficient and effective physiotherapy service. Aid the management of departmental cleanliness and infection prevention standards, in conjunction with hospital protocols and the house keeping team. Helper As a physiotherapy assistant I can help patients perform basic physical examination and treatment preparation tasks that they might have difficulty. For example, help lift or slide a patient into position on a table, also help a patient to undress or remove supportive devices, like braces or slings, to apply therapeutic treatment techniques, such as aquatic, sound, light, electrical stimulation, heat, cold or massage therapies. After treatment, help a patient to redress and put the supportive devices back on. Trainer I am working to educate and train patients by explaining how to change behaviors and home or work routines that exacerbate a condition; or how to use exercise or assistive devices to reduce pain, strengthen the body and improve coordination. To design a customized patient treatment plan. Demonstrates exercises from the plan and monitors the patient’s on-site workout. Additionally, He teaches the patient, and his family or caregiver, how to incorporate exercises or other therapy into his daily routine. Motivator Although pain or mobility issues can motivate a person to pursue physical therapy, they can also undermine his motivation once he starts and make it difficult for him to stick with it. Acts as the patient’s personal cheerleader. Uses sensitivity and kindness to establish trust and then encourages a patient to continue treatment even when the plan might include initial discomfort and repetition. Continues to motivate by expressing enthusiasm and pride whenever the patient improves and offering support when the patient suffers setbacks. Practice As a physiotherapy assistant in an older persons’ outpatient falls assessment service. Works predominately with a registered physiotherapist assisting in a holistic assessment process which informs multi-disciplinary decision making. I welcome patients as they arrive for assessment and supports them to complete an assessment questionnaire. Gets patients drinks if they need one, assists them to the toilet if needed and helps them to get undressed and dressed at the beginning and end of their assessment with the physiotherapist. During a patient’s assessment I remain present and assists the physiotherapist with any manual handling required. I undertake routine tests as part of the assessment process such as a timed up and go assessment. I measures walking aids as prescribed by the physiotherapist and provides these to patients teaching them how to use them safely. I follows a check list when undertaking this work in order that he can easily identify any issues or concerns that should be reported back to the physiotherapist. I book patients into further clinics and lists patients for a home assessment with OT colleagues if determined by the physiotherapist I feel I will be of value to NHS Trust as I am a flexible individual, highly aware of the scope of my own practice and am always keen to seek guidance from my seniors, whilst retaining accountability. I adopt a holistic approach to patient management and can liaise confidently with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. I can communicate effectively with patients and their careers adapting my communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, where necessary. I work well on my own initiative and as part of a team and would relish the opportunity to work in a stimulating and productive environment. I am a dedicated athlete competing in cross-country and track, and I also represented my university at the different competitions. My interest in running highlights my determination and commitment which I feel are important skills for achieving in the workplace. I was a member of our school’s cross country team when we won the District Championships. Through my on-going participation in sport, I have developed skills of discipline and teamwork. My successes not only demonstrate my talent but also my commitment and ability to work on my own to strive for a goal. My ability to maintain such an elevated academic standard while achieving success at a high level shows my capability to succeed under pressure. My College course also enabled me to further develop my knowledge of the anatomy of the human body and various common sporting injuries as well as learning numerous massage techniques and their purposes. The course also included a session on taping. I have continued to practice my sports massage skills. Completing the course shows I am committed to progressing my physiotherapeutic skills and enhancing my CPD. As well as this, I feel confident that working within the NHS will facilitate my training to partake in this. I have IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and use of Word, PowerPoint, Physio tools Sass well as clinical manager. Overall, I am a caring, enthusiastic individual and am extremely passionate about Physiotherapy. I feel that working within the NHS will facilitate my learning as a qualified physiotherapist and enable me to reach my desired high standards of care.
