I am aware of the fact that a good flight attendant requires a very caring, patient and empathetic attitude in order to provide the passengers the highest quality service and fantastic trip. However, it also means that I must exhibit myself as a very caring and sensitive to the needs of others. I can support this by proving the example of my vast experience of working with young children as a volunteer in school. This experience helped me to understand the importance of patience. I understand that children might get agitated and restless about sitting in the same place for many hours flight. This means that I will utilise my skills I learnt from working with children to entertain and comfort them, for example, I need to draw their attention, like talking about something they are interested in to calm them down. For this reason, I feel confident to say that my experience can be applied to dealing with children during flight. As well as, my experience of working in a care home taught me to understand and empathise with elders when needed. I spent considerable amount of time talking, understanding, becoming actively and comforting individuals as it made them feel welcomed and valued. This practice not only eased their feelings of loneliness but also provided them with a platform to share their emotions in an open manner. My extensive experience of customer service has taught me the value of providing positive and individualised service to all the customers. As a restaurant attendant, I will make sure to promote each customer’s comfort and well-being. I strongly believe that my experience and strength as a team player will make me a strong crew member and an asset to your flight crew.
