STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I, Abdul Basit, always has a desire for attaining personal development and quality education. My interest in electronics blossomed during my high school years. It was the time when technology had begun to make an impact on the lives of people in our country. Hence engineering with electronics as a major was my first choice in the undergraduate studies. The curiosity for knowledge that I have for this field is growing with each passing year and it is reaching the level where even Ph.D. will not quench my thirst. In line with the ambition as stated above, I succeeded in gaining admission at the Air University in Islamabad, which is ranked as 7th best engineering university of Pakistan by the Higher Education Commission. I successfully completed the undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) in 2015 with a CGPA of 3.69/4.00, thereby gaining a lot of knowledge in my field of interest. I consistently stood among the top rankers in my batch. I received merit Scholarships for excellence in Academics from the Air University. This was achieved under coaching and supervision of our well qualified faculty members. During these 4 years the engineering curriculum gave me a strong grasp of all technical principles. Of the wide range of subjects, I was most interested in the fields of Control systems, VLSI Design, FPGA Based Design, Computer Networks, Industrial Automation, Digital and Analog Electronics, DLD and Microprocessors and Microcontrollers. Starting from the 1st day of my undergraduate program, my passion in Electronics and Communication Technology is further shown by my projects related to these fields, such as RPM sensor using microcontroller, Master slave communication network using microcontroller, Number shooting game in DLD, Van de Graff generator, Stop watch on FPGA kit, student result card and library management in C++ and OOP, Level indicator using Op amp, noise removing filter etc. Not only that I managed to make the best projects in class but also assisted other students with their projects. My first brush with major research was in my final year project where I successfully completed a project titled “Automatic PC surveillance wireless camera system”. This project implemented user defined automatic as well as manual PC controlled surveillance system providing tilt and rotation motions with object detection and object following of colour specific object using Image Processing tool. It was implemented using 89c51 microcontroller. This project also required the design and implementation of panning system, stepper motors drive circuitry. I was active on many other fronts too. As a representative of the Air University, won the first prize in Digital Logic Design in inter Universities competition held at Institute of Space and Technology. My decision to pursue graduate study program at Air University was based on the fact that the research facilities and the faculty at the university are par excellent as I experienced this while doing bachelors program. Air University encourages the potential of an individual by providing all kind of support whether its financial support or provision of research and development facilities. After careful overview of the master program leading to the Ph.D. which offers teaching opportunities in addition to the Ph.D., I intend to join this program. Also, it is my passion to start my career in the field of teaching. I would consider myself fortunate if I will be considered and associated with Air University in order to get admission in MS (Electrical). I look forward for a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Air University that would enhance my knowledge with ample experience.
