For the attention of Bahria University Islamabad Campus BUIC; Lecturer Dedication, commitment and motivation to teach are attributes that have determined my decision to take on a position in your institution. I believe that I can deliver a wide range of diverse teaching styles which will prove beneficial all students. Working as a supply teacher has enabled me to teach a variety of subjects which include: English, Religious Education, Geography, History, Sociology and Citizenship at KS3, KS4 and KS5 levels. From this experienced I have developed great subject knowledge which has added to my confidence and will benefit the students that I will be teaching. It has also enabled me to become more diverse regarding my teaching techniques and my behaviour management techniques. I have learnt to adapt to different situations and circumstances which has helped me to improvise in difficult situations; for example; planning and delivering a lesson just before the lessons starts. For the past 7 years; I have been working as a permanent teacher at Blue Coat Church of England Academy, where I have taken over a full timetable, teaching RS and Philosophy. My lessons are all differentiated as many of students are SEN, FSM or EAL. Most of my lessons involve the usage of an interactive whiteboard and a PowerPoint presentation as this helps differentiation so that students can benefit from Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic activities. I have regularly helped the Head of RS to adapt and improve current schemes of work to cater for the students’ and to meet the recent changes in the national curriculum. This has enabled the department to prepare for internal and external examinations and any other assessments. In 2014, my lesson was the only one in our school to be mentioned in our Ofsted Report 2014. The inspectors were impressed with my ability to differentiate as I was teaching Sikhism to Eastern European students. I was also successful in an interview to become the School Improvement Co-ordinator at Blue Coat Church of England Academy. This means that I am responsible for ensuring that staff and students reach their full potential in teaching and learning. I have used and analysed data to ensure that pupils’ abilities are properly diagnosed and their progress is closely monitored. I liaise with all departments in developing strategies and giving support where pupils are identified as underachieving. I have shown that I have demonstrated communication and collaboration with other departments as I volunteered to attend a History trip to Amsterdam, which I aided the Head of Humanities and other members of staff to promote GCSE and A-Level History. I have personally organised educational visits to the GNNSJ Gurdwara and Shri Balaji Temple, which is the largest of its kind in Europe. Relating to children and young people is a vital part in my life as I have been working as a youth worker at Stechford Youth Network and Fairbridge West Midlands. This gave me an opportunity to implement theory into practical situations and gave me the chance to work together with team members to achieve common goals. Working in a team is vital for teachers as we have to work together and alongside children in order to establish high standards and to ensure consistency across the department. I have also worked alongside Diversity Officers for West Midlands Police Service, where I have helped organise focus groups and debates. I am personally responsible for arranging the attendance of young people to meet with Diversity Officers to discuss current controversial issues. Religious Education is a lot more than teaching students about different Religions, it involves discussions and debates on many social, cultural and moral issues that students need to prepare them for their futures. I feel that as a Religious Studies teacher; I can teach students about many different aspects of life and to teach students how to respect and tolerate diverse people in an ever-growing multicultural society. I always strive to help students achieve their full potential and help a school to reach or maintain ‘Outstanding’ reputation. My main aim is to improve student’s achievement and to give students exam techniques that will help them in all subjects. I aim to do this by delivering after school revision classes where students can practice different exam techniques on past exam papers. I will also go through a range or formative and summative assessments to help me assess students’ levels so that I can give individual targets to students who all work at different rates. I believe that teaching students about local, national and international matters will help give them a better understanding so that they can make a positive impact to their societies and the rest of the world. I believe I can fulfil this role with maximum efficiency and am ready to help students progress further in their subject so that they can achieve their maximum potential.
