Hey guys, mechanical engineer in my senior year here, I just got done talking to a small development company about a rough concept for a new phone case. They gave me some basic functionality, the shittiest 5 second sketches Ive ever seen, and want me to do a solidworks design of the case. But first they want me to send them a proposal of what I will do and what I will charge. I have a pretty good idea of what to do, but no idea what an appropriate rate is. It sounds like they just want a conceptual model that shows the functionality of the case and maybe some renders, so thats the only kind of work i think I should consider for the rate. This would be a lot more cut and dry with some detailed sketches but they are more or less asking me to design all of it for them. Whats a good rate/complete price to design something like this? Any other advice is also appreciated. Thanks!
