Riaz Afridi
My name is Riaz Uddin Afridi and I belong to Pakistan District Khyber. I did my master’s in international Relation in 1994-95 from University of Peshawar. My last assignment was working as Government Liaison Officer in USAID Project named “Community Resilience Activity” which was being implemented by International Office for Migration IOM in the most conflict-ridden area of Pakistan. Over of the total 20 years of my professional career, I have been working with IOM in KP/NMDs for more than a decade now with significant contributions in the community driven program with support of the Government to improve socio-economic indicators and build resilience in the community. In this context, following are the key experiences and skills that I can bring into the program and core team; Strategic Planning & Coordination: While working with IOM and other programs, I have gained considerable experience in Strategic Planning, Coordination and Monitoring. I believe my experience can be used in the program towards economic uplift of the marginalized districts, especially in the context of tribal areas mainstreaming. I also have in depth knowledge and experience of USAID supported programs, as well as Government’s planning processes. Programme Designing, Budgeting and Management: I have extensive experience in designing innovative and grounded proposals for results based realistic program and have had managed more than 5 largescale programs in KP including FATA. Specifically, I have experience of designing and managing programs with infrastructure, agriculture, youth engagement and capacity building using innovative approaches to improve access of local community to quality services and sustain their livelihood generating economic activities locally. Partnerships & Networking: Well versed with partnerships guidelines and procedures, I have been able to successfully explore and formalize sustainable and strong partnerships driven by results in KP province. These partnerships include bilateral and multilateral arrangements with Government, academia and civil society. This was largely due to my strong networking skills and deeper understanding of shared issues of local context. This will be equally helpful in the emerging opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, especially NMDs. Emergency Response: I have been able to successfully implement emergency response activities in conflict prone zone of Pakistan and supported the government of Pakistan in providing support to the community and enabled them to lead prosperous life. Multi Sectoral Activities I was part and parcel of the multi sectoral Office of Transition Initiative Project USAID in Pakistan. Conducted Educational activities in the most devasted area of Pakistan due to conflict. I was part of that project where we constructed schools in the militant areas, rehabilitated schools, provide them furniture, enrolled students and provide stipend to the teachers and conducted teacher trainings etc. WASH including rehabilitation and, development and protection of drinking water schemes , distribution of NFIs, hygiene promotion campaigns, support to health facilities, and support to government in COVID-19 response, Emergency Shelter distribution of kits and shelter NFIs. Program constructed and supported Livelihood activities which include construction of farm services centres,construction of Veterinary Hospitals, support to farmers,traning to farmers, provision of seeds and construction of Water Channels etc. I have ample experience of the humanitarian field, knowledge of humanitarian Aid, proposals writing development, grants management and donor having experience of dealing with donors.I am very good in managing team and believe in team building. I am having Strong oral and written communication skills and analytical skills.I am having experience of working in conflict prone areas and rest of the Pakistan and monitored activities in almost every district of the Pakistan.Such rich experience motivate me to apply for this position because I am the most suitable candidate for this slot keeping in view my track record.
