Zulfiqar Ali
I am Zulfiqar Ali, recently completed my PhD Computer Sciences from NUCES- National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan and Arizona State University, Arizona, U.S.A. Prior to doctorate, my Masters Computer Sciences was from the aforementioned university NUCES- National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Islamabad, Pakistan. I would like to introduce myself as an applicant for the Faculty position in the field of Data Science and Machine Learning, to assist with research, design and development of predictive analytics systems. I am confident in my ability to perform as a Data Scientist and Data Analytic at the research group to development of financial and business analytics, Money Laundering and Fraud detection Systems, due to my extensive education and work experience in the field of Data Science and Machine Learning. I am a professional Data Scientist with 4 years of working experience in bio inspired computing, computational Intelligence and machine learning disciplines. During these years, I have developed skills to independently design and conduct Swarm Intelligence-based data analysis projects. My current research interests lie in developing Swarm Intelligence based methodologies ACO, PSO for building the data analytics in the field of business, health etc. I have strong analytical and innovative skills to solve challenging tasks by learning new methods from different computational fields such as Machine Learning, Computational Intelligence, Swarm Intelligence and Evolutionary Algorithms. This motivated me to apply for this highly interdisciplinary job. Furthermore, I have worked as an Exchange Research Scholar with Dr. Hassan Davulcu, at the School of Computing, Informatics and Decision Systems Engineering, in Arizona State University, Tempe AZ, USA from February 2014 to August 2014. Recently, I defended my PhD thesis successfully and was approved with distinction. During PhD, I have worked on a systems biology project under the supervision of Dr. Waseem Shahzad, an expert in Swarm Intelligence and Data Science. In my PhD, I developed a novel approach for the discovery of emerging pattern by using the Ant Colony Optimization ACO. In my dissertation work, I have provided a new classifier named “EPACO” that is competitor with other state of the art approaches. I am interested investigate these bio inspired techniques in business, health and financial fraud detection analytics. During my PhD research work I have practical experience of several Data Science simulation tools for the analysis of data and comparative study of machine learning methods i.e. Weka, KEEL, Orange, RapidMiner and MatLab. I have working experience in C++, Java, R and Python high level programing languages. I have investigated the performance of classifiers on imbalance data sets and having a strong mathematical background. Moreover, I have a suitable record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences that is given in the CV. Being possessing the working experience of applied machine learning, using the statistical and evolutionary algorithms for exploring and analyzing data in large scale, I believe that makes me best suited candidate for this position.
